I have always wanted to work with animals and help them in some way. When I was little, I thought that meant I should be a vet. As I matured, I found there are lots of ways people can help animals and needed to have more of a reason to want to become a vet. I still thought I should be a vet because I love science and getting to be a voice for animals. When I started working as a veterinary assistant, I learned that I love veterinary medicine. I love talking with people about their animal family members, being part of their healthcare team to help keep them healthy and putting the puzzle pieces together to determine what’s wrong when necessary.
There are so many things, but one of my favorites is getting to see and help foster the bond between humans and animals.
Bachelor of Science from University of Mississippi
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine
Two of my favorite things about Memphis are the food and the Memphis Zoo. It’s hard to beat Memphis BBQ and our zoo is one of the best in the world!
I wish I could communicate with animals. I could do so much with that! I could better help my patients, find out what they really thinking, and have a heart-to-heart about the necessity of the mailman.
