Why did you become a vet?

When I was little, I had always loved animals and wanted to spend my day surrounded by them, so naturally I wanted to become a veterinarian. As I got a little older, I realized veterinarians had a unique opportunity to walk alongside people in all seasons of life. This only made me love veterinary medicine more as I saw it as a great tool to love people by caring for their pets. Veterinary medicine allows opportunity to celebrate with owners through the sweet and exciting times, while also being able to empathize with those going through harder times with their families and pets. I love the opportunity that this career brings to care for both pets and their owners alike.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy a lot of aspects of veterinary medicine from the diversity in every day seeing unique cases and meeting new challenges, to growing relationships with clients and really getting to know the people and the pets I am serving. It is very exciting to be able to work in a field that is always changing and advancing. Also, the occasional puppy and kitten snuggles are pretty great as well.

What do you love most about living in Memphis?

Growing up in Memphis I loved visiting the zoo and going to see shows at the Orpheum. I am also excited to be near family and getting to show my husband and son some of the places I grew up going to as well as exploring new places in Memphis!

What secret talent do you wish that you had?

I have always wished I could speak to animals. (I have been known to try my best, but it never really works out like I would hope!)
