Why did you become a vet?

I am an only child so naturally my childhood was filled with playtime with my 3 dogs. The bond we shared and love I experienced from an early age made me seek animal companionship the rest of my life. I fostered my love for animals any chance I got whether pet sitting for neighbors or horseback riding.  Another big factor in leading me to veterinary medicine is my inquisitive nature. I am a true scientist at heart, I love figuring out how things work, what makes things tick, and overall the evolving nature of science with the endless amount of new discoveries.  What gets me excited is thinking about how much there still is to discover in the world. I knew I wanted to be a scientist from an early age but I wasn’t sure what that meant until college. One day it just hit me, why don’t I pursue veterinary medicine, what a fulfilling profession. I would get to inquire all I wanted to, spend my days with multiple animals, and help foster and protect the human-animal bond between owners and their family members.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love meeting new animals and making new friends daily. Veterinary medicine is the most fulfilling profession because I get to help owners by being not only a resource for their fur baby, but also a friend to them in the happy times and the sad times. I cherish all the animals I’m blessed to get to help and the people I get to meet.

Education

Bachelors in Animal Science (The University of Tennessee)
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine)

What do you love most about living in Memphis?

No other city has the soul, the history, the diversity, and the grit we have. There is an avenue for everyone from the great BBQ to the delta blues. I really enjoy the strong equestrian community we have and the Germantown Charity Horse Show every year in June. I am a proud Memphian born and raised and I am so happy to be back to serve my communities animals and their owners.

What secret talent do you wish that you had?

I have always loved horse racing and would love to have the strength and stature to be a jockey. My ultimate goal would be to win the Triple Crown as a jockey.
