Maggie Landis, DVM

Dr. Maggie Landis grew up in the small town of Centerville, Tennessee, where she developed a fondness for both wild and domesticated animals. “All of my friends lived on farms or in the country so I was able to take care of animals from all walks of life.”

Back to All Vets

Dr. Landis has a sweet black lab named Sally and a cat named Sasha who like to wait for her on the doorstep at the end of the day.

Why did you become a vet?

I have always been an animal lover, but I originally went to college to become a physician. I soon decided human medicine wasn’t the right path for me. I began shadowing my hometown vet and immediately found my passion! (Thank you Dr. Edmonds!)

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy giving animals happier and healthier lives, and seeing the joy that this brings to the pet owners.

Education

Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University in 2009; DVM from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013; Small Animal Rotating Internship and Internal Medicine Internship at Memphis Veterinary Specialists from June 2013 – June 2015.

What do you love most about living in Memphis?

I love that Memphis is a large city with a small town feel.

What secret talent do you wish that you had?

I wish I could dance.
