Why did you become a vet?

I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my entire life. I remember going to the vet with my grandmother when I was a little girl and having so much admiration for the veterinarian. I started shadowing at his clinic when I was 13. That summer I spent shadowing him lit a spark in me to become a veterinarian- I have been pursuing that dream since then and never looked back!

What do you enjoy about your job?

I went into veterinary medicine to help animals but as I pursued my education, I quickly learned that veterinary medicine is just as much about the people on the other end of the leash. The human-animal bond is something that is undeniable and I love that I get to be apart of that bond between my patients and their owners!

Education

Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from University of TN at Martin (2013); Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University- College of Veterinary Medicine (2017)

What do you love most about living in Memphis?

I grew up and went to college in small towns so I love that Memphis is a big city but still has the small town charm that I am used to.

What secret talent do you wish that you had?

I wish I could teleport (or just click my heels together like Dorothy) and be anywhere in a matter of minutes!
